Hey boaters! As winter approaches, don't let your Sunbrella canvas (bimini tops, covers, and more) fall victim to mildew, fading, or damage during storage. Follow these simple steps from Sunbrella experts to keep it looking sharp and lasting longer:

  1. Clean Thoroughly: Brush off loose dirt, hose down the fabric, and apply a mild soap solution (Dawn or Sunbrella Clean™ Multi-Purpose Fabric Cleaner). For tough stains or mildew, use a 1 cup bleach + ¼ cup mild soap per gallon of water mix (or Sunbrella Renew™ Mold & Mildew Stain Remover). Let it soak 15 mins, scrub gently with a soft brush, and rinse well. Avoid harsh chemicals or power washing!  Never power wash.  We had a customer power wash his 1 year old bimini and put holes all over it.

  2. Dry Completely: Air dry in a shaded, well-ventilated area—never machine dry or use heat. This prevents moisture buildup that leads to mold over winter.  Make sure it is fully dried before storing.

  3. Treat for Protection: Once fully dry, apply a fabric protector like Sunbrella Restore™ Fabric Protector & Repellent. Spray evenly on both sides for water/mold resistance. Reapply annually or as needed to maintain that beading action!

Store your boat in a dry spot if possible, and cover with breathable Sunbrella fabric to shield from the elements. Your canvas will thank you come spring—happy boating (and storing)! 🚤💨 #BoatWinterizing #SunbrellaCare #MarineLife
