Why Invest in a Custom Enclosure?

More Time on the Water, More Comfort, More Value

A quality enclosure transforms your boat from a fair-weather vessel into a year-round investment. Protect your crew from spray and wind. Stay dry during unexpected rain. Extend your season into spring and fall when the weather turns. And when it's time to sell, a well-maintained enclosure adds significant resale value.

But not all enclosures are created equal. Cheap materials yellow and crack. Poor patterns create gaps that leak. Weak zippers fail after one season. At Robie Canvas, we build enclosures that last - using premium materials, precision patterning, and expert craftsmanship that stands up to years of marine exposure.

The Robie Canvas Enclosure Advantage

Built Right, Built to Last

Precision 3D Patterning

We pattern directly on your boat using 3D Proliner technology. Every curve, angle, and mounting point is digitally captured before we cut a single piece of fabric. The result? Enclosures that fit like a glove with no gaps, no wrinkles, no leaks.

Premium Window Materials

We offer two window options based on your needs and budget - both delivering crystal-clear visibility that lasts. Your windows won't yellow, crack, or haze like cheap vinyl.

Marine-Grade Fabrics That Endure

We use only the finest marine fabrics designed specifically for harsh saltwater environments. These aren't automotive or outdoor furniture fabrics - they're engineered for boats.

Expert Zipper Selection

Zippers are the weak point of most enclosures. We use heavy-duty marine-grade zippers designed for thousands of open-close cycles in wet, salty conditions.

Thread That Outlasts the Fabric

We use premium marine thread engineered to resist UV degradation and outlast the fabric itself. Your seams won't fail before your fabric does.

Custom Frame Integration

If your boat needs a new frame or frame modifications to support an enclosure, we design and fabricate custom stainless steel frames in-house. Frame and canvas engineered together as a complete system.

How We Build Your Enclosure

From Measurement to Installation

Step 1: Consultation

We discuss your needs, usage patterns, and budget. Full enclosure or partial? Rigid windows or flexible? What's your priority - maximum visibility, easy storage, or quick conversion? We design around how you actually use your boat.

Step 2: On-Site Patterning

We come to your boat (within 30 miles of Bellingham, MA) or you bring it to our shop. Additional travel charges may apply for time and fuel beyond our standard service area. Using 3D scanning technology, we capture precise measurements of your cockpit geometry, existing frame, and all mounting points.

Step 3: Design & Material Selection

We create a detailed design showing panel layout, window placement, zipper locations, and attachment methods. You choose your fabric colors and window type. We provide a detailed quote with no surprises.

Step 4: Precision Fabrication

Your enclosure is cut and sewn in our shop using premium materials. Every seam is reinforced. Every window is carefully installed. Every zipper is positioned for smooth operation and weather-tight sealing.

Step 5: Test Fit & Installation

We install your enclosure on your boat, check fit and function, make any final adjustments, and ensure all attachment points are secure and weather-tight. You get a complete walkthrough on operation and care.

Enclosure Care & Maintenance

Protecting Your Investment

A well-maintained enclosure can last 7-10 years or more. We provide detailed care instructions with every enclosure, including:

  • Proper cleaning methods for windows and fabric

  • Winter storage recommendations

  • Zipper lubrication and maintenance

  • When to apply fabric treatments

  • How to identify and address minor issues before they become major problems
